Learn how to cast and read horoscopes.
Put first things first. Birth chart interpretation comes before astrology forecasts. You can't interpret - let alone make use of - Jupiter's transits and forecasts in general, if you don't know how to read the charts for whom the forecasts are made. Learn the art of chart construction and delineation. Become familiar with birth chart readings before you jump into astrology forecasting. While astrology courses are available at various rates, you can get lessons for free online. Look for free books and lessons, such as those distributed by the "Rosicrucian Fellowship," especially the classic "Message of the Stars."
Learn how to calculate and interpret transits.
After mastering astrology birth charts, move on to the study of transits. Look for quality information on transits in books, web sites and software. A good course on transits should teach you how to compute them by hand as well as how to interpret each transit. Example cases for analysis (such as well-known historical or political events) must also be given. The definitive work on the subject is "Planets in Transit" by Robert Hand; however there are others that also serve the purpose.
Practice interpreting Jupiter's transits to the planets.
Each planet in your horoscope symbolizes an aspect of yourself. Think of transiting Jupiter's influence on them as a time when that aspect has a chance to grow and improve. It brings opportunity, good luck and a sense of well-being if positive. But if negative, it causes blind optimism, wastefulness, self-indulgence and idleness.
Memorize the influence of Jupiter on the natal planets. These can and are modified by aspects, signs and other factors. As a general guide:
1) Jupiter transits to the Sun influence the mind and makes one self-confident. Good for beginning a new study or project, for career advancement, improving relationships with people in authority., etc.

Practice interpreting Jupiter transits through the houses.
The 12 astrological houses each represent a segment of human experience. When Jupiter influences a house in astrology forecasts, the affairs of that house seem easier to handle. Each transit to a house lasts about 1 year.
1) Jupiter transit to the 1st house is a good time to improve one's self-image, outward appearance and dealings with others.
2) Jupiter transit to the 2nd house may be a good time to buy valuables, tap into one's resources and work to increase income.

4) Jupiter transit to the 4th house can be a good time to buy property (assuming there are no afflictions) or improve one's domestic relationships.

9( Jupiter transit to the 9th house is especially good in astrology forecasts, as this is Jupiter's native house. A great time to travel abroad, learn a new language, publish a book or enroll in university.
10) Jupiter transit to the 10th house is excellent for career advancement (if the birth chart is not afflicted), relationships with authority figures and public life in general.
11) Jupiter transit to the 11th house lets you find friends with similar interests, join a club, political party, and the like.
12) Jupiter transit to the 12th house is a time for quiet and solitude, even of the mystical kind if one is so inclined.
Find the transits using an astrological calendar.
Once you are ready to work with transits for your chart, get a reference book of transits known as a book of ephemerides. An ephemeris lists the movements of the planets through the signs in any given year. By referring to this calendar, you can relate the motions of the planets to a birth chart and find out what the transits (forecasts) are for that chart.
If you don't want to use an ephemeris or study astrology yourself, you can of course, buy an astrology forecast.
Find out the time of the transit in your forecast report.
An astrology forecast usually tells you what influences will come into play and when. If it's an ephemeris, it will indicate the dates. Note the dates that the Jupiter transit will have its strongest effect. Mark these on your calendar or diary.
Read the interpretations for that particular transit.
Each astrological influence in your forecast report will have its own unique effect. If using an astrology report, study it to know what area(s) of your life will be influenced by Jupiter. If you are doing it yourself, refer to the previous steps on Jupiter transits to the houses and planets for help with understanding a specific transit.
Plan for the Jupiter transit or forecast.
Formulate a plan ahead of time. Suppose Jupiter is about to make a transit to your tenth house - career, public image, authority figures, government, etc. If you've been waiting to get a break in these areas, now is the time to actively seek it. Make plans so you can take full advantage of the transit.
Take action during the period that Jupiter is active.
Jupiter makes it easy for things to work out the way you want. Take the initiative now, while the energies are flowing your way. Ask for help - you'll likely get it - or go it alone. Either way, resist the temptation to do nothing. Keep referring to your transits book or forecast report for advice.
Avoid excesses.
Be restrained under this astrology transit. Don't let it make you wasteful, over-optimistic about your plans and goals, overindulgent in food or drink, etc. It is easy to over-extend yourself during these times. Use the energy wisely. Even if nothing goes wrong now, you might pay for it later once the transit has passed.
Do not think that everything will go well.
Don't be misled by all the hype surrounding Jupiter- it's not a miracle-worker. Remember that Jupiter is the planet of gambling in astrology. Beware of taking foolish risks like in business, finances and relationships. Do not fall for one of the real dangers of Jupiter transits: the illusion that all will go well.
Focus on growth and expansion.
Examine your life to determine what areas need improvement. Take action now. You will benefit more from Jupiter if you choose activities and projects that aim to grow things - whether it's physical, emotional, spiritual or intellectual. Depending on the transit, it may be a good time to start a new business, adopt a child, make an investment, publish a book, get a loan, etc.
