How to Shine Stars on a Tent Ceiling

Camping is an opportunity to escape the city and enjoy the beauty and solitude of the outdoors. Looking up at the stars is one activity that draws people to camping. Unfortunately, weather doesn't always cooperate with camping plans and some camping trips end in rain or snow. Luckily, you can have a starry night right inside your tent -- even as you're waiting out a storm.

Things You'll Need

Flashlight
Posterboard or cardstock

Instructions

  Place the flashlight lens-down on a piece of poster board. Card stock or paperboard can be used in place of poster board. Trace an outline of the head of the flashlight on the poster board. Set the flashlight aside.

  Draw the desired constellation or star arrangement on the piece of poster board with the stars inside the traced circle.

  Punch out the stars using the tip of a pencil or a long-necked craft punch. Cut out the circle along the traced line.

  Repeat Steps 1 through 3 to create a variety of constellations and star arrangements. Experiment with moons, comets and other astrological bodies, if desired.

  Tape one of the punched-out poster board circles to the lens of the flashlight. Don't cover any of the punched holes with tape. Turn on the flashlight and point the beam at the tent ceiling. Simulated stars will appear on the ceiling.
