Determine the location of the moon during the lunar eclipse. This information is generally readily available through your local television stations or through the NASA website.
Choose a window in your home that offers you a clear view of the moon during this time period. Check to make sure no trees or buildings will block your view, especially if you have more than one window that can provide a view of the moon.
Turn out the lights in the room and close the door if necessary to keep any extra light out.
Hold back the window coverings to give you a clear view of the night sky outside. If the window coverings don't stay back on their own, tie them back with string.
Watch the moon for the entire time so you can see the lunar eclipse move from one stage to the next.
