How to Make a Brochure of What Activities You Could Do on Mars

If you are learning about Mars, use the research that scientists have found from the planet and have fun with it by creating a tourism brochure. Pretend you are advertising the planet much like a state's tourism board would advertise its state. Make your brochure stand out by making it colorful and filled with useful information. Use the computer to type out your brochure and print pictures for it or hand-write it and glue pictures from magazines or other sources.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold your piece of paper so it resembles a brochure. Lay your paper out so the long edge is closest to you. Fold the left-hand side of the paper so it goes just past the center fold the right-hand side so it goes just past the center. Overlap these two pieces of paper and crease them so that each section of paper is relatively even. Open up the piece of paper. You will now have a sheet that has been creased into three sections. We'll call the left-hand column A, the middle column B and the right-hand column C. This is the inside of your brochure, where you will put most of your information.

    • 2

Turn the brochure over so that the back of Column A is now on the right, the back of column B is still in the middle and the back of Column C is on the left. The back of Column A will end up being the front of your brochure, the back of Column B is the back of your brochure and the back of Column C is the inside flap.

    • 3

Write out a big headline on the front of your brochure that says something like "Mars Activities" or "Fun On Mars." Include a simple picture of the planet below or above the headline. You want the front cover to catch the reader's attention and be appealing.

    • 4

Make up fake contact information with a fake phone number, e-mail address and even a physical address. Write out something like "Mars Tourism Board" and make up an address like "1 Red Rock Way, Planet Red Township, Mars."

    • 5

Write on your inside flap a brief summary about the types of activities that you want to spotlight in your brochure. Think of this part as your topic sentence or opening paragraph of an essay. Add graphics that keep it appealing as well.

    • 6

Flip your paper open again so that Column A is on the left, column B is in the center and column C is on the right. This will be the inside of your brochure where you want to detail information.

    • 7

Categorize your activities by placing one headline at the top of each column. For example write out "Water Activities," "Sightseeing," "Extreme Sports Activities," "Adventure Getaways," etc. You will end up with three categories.

    • 8

Come up with two or three different separate activities to go under each category. For example, under "Extreme Sports Activities," you could include rock climbing up the canyons of Mars, going for a spacewalk or dirt-bike riding around the dry lake beds of Mars. "Adventure Getaways" could include an archaeological dig for Martian fossils or a buggy tour of the planet. "Sightseeing" could include going to the spot where the first Mars Rover landed or a trip to the Southern Highlands of Mars.

Write brief summaries for each activity. Include a small picture along with each summary to illustrate the activity further.
