Visit a website with star maps such as the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (see Resources). Look for constellation maps, keeping in mind that recognizable constellations change according to the viewer's location and time of year.
Use an interactive star chart like the one available for free download on websites such as Astroviewer (astroviewer.com). These programs allow you to view the night sky and constellations.
Download a star chart or constellation map app for a smartphone or tablet computer. Weber State University (see Resources) has a list of constellation apps. Some of these programs even allow you to hold your phone or tablet up to the night sky and see the exact position of constellations on the night sky.
Visit the astronomy section of your local library or a bookstore. Several constellation maps are published in book form. Amazon.com has a list of books with constellation maps.
Check your local planetarium or museum. Planetariums are large theaters where stars are projected on the dome roof. Planetariums are sometimes part of museums, or at least have a small museum section where you can find maps of the constellations.
