How to Make Your Bushnell Reflecting Telescope Work

Amateur astronomy is an intellectually challenging hobby. On occasion, amateur astronomers make discoveries before the professionals do. Getting started with a new Bushnell reflecting telescope can be a bit daunting, especially if you have never used one before. Still, with a little practice, you should be stargazing in no time.

Instructions

    • 1

Assemble your telescope according to the instructions that come with it. This assembly process will vary according to the particular model you purchased.

    • 2

Look through the finder scope on the side of of the scope. Use this scope to aim the telescope roughly where you want.

    • 3

Set the main tube to low power and look through it. You should see your target in the view. Adjust the scope alignment carefully to center the object in the main view.

    • 4

Adjust the magnification on the main scope to zoom in on smaller, harder to see objects.

    • 5

Track the object every few minutes to keep it in view.
