How to Set Right Ascension on a Celestron Telescope

Celestron is a company that produces a line of telescopes. Celestron telescopes use an optical glass lens to zoom in on objects in space like the moon or stars. These telescopes are great for home use as well as a classroom. Celestron telescopes offer different lenses for different zoom capability. The right ascension on a Celestron telescope is referring to longitude. Aligning the right ascension with the coordinates of a bright star can help you find the coordinates of any visible object in space.

Visit the official Celestron website. Find and download the Celestron Sky Maps. Find the coordinates of a star near the celestial equator.

    • 2

Use the finder scope to find the star you have chosen. Align the star in the cross hairs of the finder scope.

    • 3

Look through lens of your Celestron telescope to see if the star is in the center of the scope.
