The Great Lakes Star Gaze Star Party
The Great Lakes Star Gaze is the largest and most popular star party in Michigan. The event takes place at Gladwin, Michigan, 30 miles away from the nearest town, under some of the darkest skies in the state. There are a number of vendors that attend the event, as well as special programs and speakers to keep you entertained during the day. Participants can register for the star party online.
Astronomy at the Beach
Astronomy at the Beach is held at Kensington Metropark near Brighton, Michigan, and is hosted by The Great Lakes Association of Astronomy Clubs. The Astronomy at the Beach star-gazing event offers activities for amateur astronomers of all ages and abilities. There are special lectures and workshops for beginners, as well as seasoned observers, and a portable planetarium that offers programs for children. There is no registration or attendance fee, but a vehicle pass must be purchased before entering the Kensington Metropark.
The Cadillac West Star Party
The Cadillac West Star Party is a star party hosted by active members of the Warren Astronomical Society. The star party takes place at a dark sky location 14 miles outside of Cadillac, Michigan, during the forecasted peak of the Perseid meteor shower. Camping is available on-site or at nearby campgrounds, and there is a drawing for door prizes as well as a barbecue during the day. Participants are asked to register in advance and provide a small donation fee upon arrival at the site.
