The revolution of the Earth is the movement of the Earth around the sun. When the solar system was forming, the dust and rock was spinning around a central core. As the planets and moons coalesced, the planets continued to revolve around the sun in the same manner.

    Distance at Aphelion

    • Aphelion is when the Earth is farthest in its orbit to the sun. The Earth is 94.5 million miles from the sun at aphelion. Aphelion occurs on July 4.

    • The Earth revolves around the sun in a counter-clockwise direction.
