The revolution of the Earth is the movement of the Earth around the sun. When the solar system was forming, the dust and rock was spinning around a central core. As the planets and moons coalesced, the planets continued to revolve around the sun in the same manner.

- Perihelion is when the Earth is closest in its orbit to the sun. The Earth is 91.5 million miles from the sun at perihelion. Perihelion occurs on January 3.
Distance at Aphelion
- Aphelion is when the Earth is farthest in its orbit to the sun. The Earth is 94.5 million miles from the sun at aphelion. Aphelion occurs on July 4.
Direction of Revolution
- The Earth revolves around the sun in a counter-clockwise direction.
