Determine your star name. Think of a special name for the star you want to register. Almost any name is accepted up to 35 characters, but make sure it is a name that has special significance and is one that you don't mind sharing with many people. Recipients tend to show off their newly named star, so you wouldn't want the person to be embarrassed by your selection.
Determine your star date. Your star date is the dedication date that will be placed on the star registry. Dates are available from 1/1/2008 through 1/1/2010, but are subject to change.
Decide on your constellation. You can choose the constellation or star system where your named star will reside. Options include horoscope-related constellations like Scorpio or Aries, or constellations like Ursa Major or Vela. You also have the option to let the star registry decide the star system.
Choose your star package. Three main packages are available and start with the Custom Kit around $50 and range to the Heirloom Ultimate Star Kit that costs around $500. The main difference in the packages is the option and quality of framing for the star certificate and star chart.
Place your International Star Registry order. Order online at Starregistry.com, by phone at 1-800-282-3333, or by downloading a form from their website and mailing it with your payment. During your order, you will be offered other commemorative items such as jewelry and stuffed animals. You will also be able to send a personalized message to the recipient of your star registry. Your order should be received within 3-5 business days. To check on your order status, call the International Star Registry's customer service department.
