How to See Images From the Hubble Telescope

Amateur astronomers enjoy viewing the night sky with everything from the naked eye to visiting a working observatory like Kitt's Peak in Arizona. The wonders of the universe are there to observe. A special telescope was launched into space by NASA to peer into the far reaches of the universe without the distortion of the Earth's atmosphere. The Hubble telescope is able to send images back to Earth so that we can view what is out there beyond our solar system.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the online HubbleSite (see Resources below) to read about the telescope. You'll find the history, archived gallery of images and even a listing of things that the Hubble telescope has discovered. Sponsored by the Space Telescope Science Institute, this site tells about how the Hubble is being used to understand our universe and the phenomena that we observe.

    • 2

Visit NASA's website about the Hubble to see details of the Hubble's operations, images and results that have been obtained from the Hubble (see Resources below).

    • 3

Visit the Hubble Heritage Gallery of Images for some amazing space shots.

    • 4

Search for "Hubble telescope images" in any search engine. There are multitudes of sites that post images acquired from the Hubble telescope for the public to see.
