Plan to view the constellation in October. Despite the birth sign dominating late January and most of February, October is the best time of year to view Aquarius.
Locate the ecliptic. You can print a free star chart to help find this long line of zodiac constellations. It runs from east to west but moves around the sky as the seasons change.
Look for the brighter stars on the south side of the constellation. These stars are named Sadalmelik and Sadalsuud. Both names have various translations, but are associated with luck and good fortune. Find the rest of the constellation using these two lucky stars as a starting point. The astrological signs Pisces and Capricorn sit on either side of Aquarius.
Locate the globular cluster, otherwise known as Messier 2, by starting with the star Sadalsuud. Also locate the star Enif in Pegasus. Your star chart can help you. Enif is bright and easy to find.
Draw an imaginary line between the two stars. M2 is located to the side of this imaginary line, less than one fourth of the way from Sadalsuud to Enif. Look to the side of the line away from Aquarius. Aim your binoculars at this spot and look around. The cluster stands out when you find it.
