How to View Pleiades

Pleiades, or Seven Sisters, is one of the most recognizable constellations in the night sky. It's a lot of fun to spot with the naked eye. Use a pair of binoculars and you reveal another layer beauty. Take some time to get to know and view this remarkable heavenly body.

      Locate Pleiades. Print a star chart to help you find it. It is located near the zodiac constellation of Taurus. Its location shifts throughout the year, so check your chart for the season before heading out to look at the stars.

      Look for a star formation that resembles a very small dipper with six stars evenly placed throughout the constellation. You are now viewing Pleiades.

      Use your peripheral vision to look at the constellation. Notice a fuzzy haze. Your peripheral vision is more light sensitive and keys you in to knowing there is more to this small formation.

      Look at Pleiades through binoculars or a telescope. See that it is actually a cluster of many stars that are thought to have formed at the same time.

      Read about the mystery of the seventh sister. There are many different theories as to why this constellation is called the Seven Sisters. Find your favorite and share the story with others.
