How to Get Rid of Virginia Stink Bugs in Your RV

Stink bugs belong to the order Hemiptera and the family Pentatomidae. There are several different species of stink bugs in Virgina, but the most common are the brown and green stink bugs. Both insects reach a size of 5/8 inch as adults and have characteristic shield shaped bodies. In the fall, stink bugs begin searching for places to hibernate during the winter and may take refuge in your RV. If you discover stink bugs in your RV, treat them immediately before an infestation occurs.

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the inside of your RV thoroughly with a hand held vacuum. This should remove all the visible stink bugs from your vehicle. Immediately dispose of the vacuum bag in an outside trash container.

    • 2

Spray organic or nontoxic residual insect spray inside your RV. Focus on cracks and crevices where the insects and their eggs may be hiding.

    • 3

Set some insect glue traps on the floor behind the seats of your RV to trap stink bugs. Discard the traps in an outside trash container when they are full and replace them with new ones to safely trap the bugs.

    • 4

Mix two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle filled with water and wipe down the hard surfaces of your RV with a cloth. Vinegar is a natural pesticide that will keep stink bugs away.

    • 5

Make sure doors and windows in your RV are completely shut. This will help prevent stink bugs from gaining entrance to your vehicle.
