Home Remedy
Put 5 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a mason jar.
Add two drops of dish soap to the apple cider vinegar.
Make a cone out of a piece of thick paper. Leave a small opening in the cone on the bottom end. Stick the cone in the jar with the widest part of the funnel sticking out.
Set the jar in areas where there are gnat infestations. Allow the gnats to follow the scent of the vinegar through the cone. The gnats become trapped in the vinegar and die.
Electric Fly Trap
Place an electric fly trap in an area where infestations are particularly bad.
Wait until night. Turn the fly trap on. The UV light attracts gnats to the glue trap.
Replace the glue trap. Once the glue trap is full of bugs and gnats, you must replace it. Throw away the glue trap and install a new one.
Prevention in the Kitchen
Thoroughly wash and dry dishes. Avoid keeping open food containers out on the counter.
Ensure drains are clean to keep gnats away from the sink area. Run warm water down the drain; then turn off the water, and pour a cup of ammonia down the drain.
Use a pipe cleaner or call a plumber to eliminate buildup in the pipes for more severe cases.
