Things You'll Need
Instructions
Find or purchase a medium-sized cardboard box. Not only will this box provide the foundation for your trap, crickets will be attracted to it since they eat cardboard.
Coat the interior walls and bottom of the box with molasses. The sweet smell will quickly attract crickets and they will anxiously hop into the box looking for food. However, as they feed they will become stuck to the molasses and remain trapped until you decide what to do with them.
Place the prepared box in an area that is likely to be populated with crickets. Garbage cans, high grass and outdoor lights are all popular congregating places for crickets.
Allow the box to sit undisturbed for several hours.
Decide what you want to do with the crickets you catch. If you want to get rid of them, throw the entire box into an outdoor garbage can. Do not place it in an indoor wastebasket. If any of the crickets manage to escape, you do not want them living in your home. If you want to use them as food for your pet, carefully remove the crickets from the box using a pair of tweezers and place them in the aquarium or tank.
