Appearance
The bold or daring jumping spider is 15mm long and nearly as wide. It has fluorescent green mouth parts. Its legs are short and thick in appearance, and its entire body is covered in hair-like structures, or setae.
Bite
The spider is large enough to bite, though its bite is not dangerous, and it is known as the most common biting spider in North America. The bite is usually not painful and will develop into a small red bump or hive. Some people can be allergic to the daring jumping spider's bite, so consult a medical professional if you experience dizziness, trouble breathing or excess swelling after being bit.
Behavior
The daring jumping spider does not weave webs, and instead makes sacs to hide in when threatened or to lay eggs. It is known for sneaking upon and then jumping on its prey, and will hunt around homes, barns or on fences. It hunts during the daytime. The daring jumping spider will not attack humans, unless its habitat is disturbed or it feels threatened. When it bites humans, it will leap onto exposed skin first. The daring jumping spider also strong vision compared to other spider species.
Habitat
The daring jumping spider will often live in homes, fields, wooded areas and gardens. It is often found around tree trunks or litter on the ground in these outdoor areas. The spider can be found over all of North America.
