Things You'll Need
Instructions
Look in bathtubs and sinks. Silverfish cannot crawl up slippery surfaces, so if they fall into these areas during the night they cannot escape.
Kneel on the floor and look under the washing machine with a flashlight. Laundry areas are warm and moist, an ideal habitat for silverfish. Washing machines provide them with a dark hiding spot during the day.
Cover the outside of a small glass jar with masking tape to make a silverfish trap. Place the jar in a corner or along the edge of a wall and leave overnight. Silverfish will climb up the tape and fall into the jars.
Check under boxes in the attic and basement. Silverfish eat cardboard boxes, books and papers, and dark rooms like attics and basements are ideal hiding spaces for them. Pick up the boxes and move them; if silverfish are hiding under them they will scurry away.
Open and inspect boxes, paper items and home improvement materials before bringing them indoors. Silverfish bugs often invade homes when they are brought inside on infested materials.
