Things You'll Need
Instructions
Combine a tablespoon each of dried rosemary, cloves, coriander, bay leaves, dill and mint in a small bowl. Thoroughly mix them together; the essential oils found in these dried herbs will repel moths.
Open an empty teabag, available at any grocery store, and fill it with a tablespoon of the herb mixture. Seal the bag by removing the small tab from the food-safe adhesive and folding the non-stick side of the teabag onto the sticky side. Place several bags in the area of the infestation.
Find or purchase a block of cedar wood. Scuff all surfaces of the wood with sandpaper and place it in the moth-infested area.
Identify the infested item of clothing or food, which will have small cocoon sacks of larva attached or be encased by a silken web. Place the infested item of clothing or food into a large zip-sealing plastic bag and seal it with as little air as possible remaining inside.
Leave the zip-sealed bag in the freezer for four days to kill the moth eggs.
Vacuuming your home and keeping shelves free from dust will help prevent moths from making themselves at home. Wash clothing immediately after use to prevent infestation.
Store clothing made of wool, synthetic and fur fibers on cedar hangers in a protective bag or airtight container to prevent moths from finding a food source.
Hang clothing and removable carpets outside in direct sunlight for several hours -- the longer the better. Moths will disperse in search of shaded areas when exposed to sunlight.
