How to Get Rid of Scorpions with Borax

Scorpions are predatory animals belonging to the same family as spiders, ticks and mites. They are beneficial to humans because they consume many pest insects. Scorpions can become a problem, however, when they make their home in your home or lawn. They can deliver a very painful sting that can cause itching, swelling and even anaphylactic shock in individuals allergic to their venom. If you discover scorpions, treat them with borax. It is a safe, inexpensive way to kill scorpions in and around your home.

  Apply a light application of borax powder around the perimeter of your home. Borax kills scorpions by attacking their nervous system and drying out their bodies. Reapply the borax powder after it rains.

  Kill scorpions that come inside your home with borax. Apply the powder behind your refrigerator, stove and other appliances inside your home. Scorpions like to hide in these dark places and will come in contact with the powder and die.

  Sprinkle borax in your garden to deter scorpions from infesting your flowers and plants. Pay special attention around the soil of your plants where scorpions like to hide.

  Remove any woodpiles, rockbeds, or other places where scorpions can find shelter in your lawn. Inspect your property on a weekly basis for any signs of scorpions.

  Find and seal all cracks and crevices in your home with caulk. Use weather stripping to seal any voids around windows and doors where scorpions can enter your home.
