Home Method for Killing Indoor Fleas

Fleas are small wingless parasites that feed off the blood of animals and humans. They can cause severe allergies and itching in pets and people. Fleas can also carry serious diseases that can be harmful to your pet. Fleas can quickly infest your pet and home if left untreated. Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle all the carpeted areas of your home with a mixture of baking soda and salt. The baking soda dehydrates the fleas while the salt dries up the larvae and eggs.

    • 2

Brush the baking soda and salt mixture deep into the carpet. Let it sit overnight and then vacuum it up the next day. Immediately dispose of the vacuum bags in an outside trash container.

    • 3

Groom your pets every day to control fleas in your home. Use a flea comb to go through your pet's hair. If the comb has fleas on it, dip it into a bowl of dish soap and water to kill them.

    • 4

Set a bowl of dish soap and water close to where your pet sleeps at night and plug in a night light near the bowl. The light will attract them to the water where they will either drown or be poisoned by the soap.

    • 5

Prevent fleas from coming into your home by sealing all possible entry points with caulk. Fill holes in floors, siding and walls to keep fleas out.
