Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble the bicycle wheel by removing the tire, liner and tube from the wheel. Use a wrench to dislocate the axles and bearings. Clean the bike wheel so there is no grime on the rim. Clean the inside of the metal drum by using water. Remove the top of the drum. Make sure the drum does not have any cracks or is showing signs of rust. Ensure the wheel rim is able to fit inside the barrel and the honey frames fit on the spokes.

    • 2

Build the frame for the extractor spin cage. Drill four 1-inch holes through the outside of the rim. Ensure the rims line up with one another so when the rod is passed through them they line up evenly. Cut the threaded rod into four different 22-inch sections. Place the one-half inch threaded rod through the axle hole in the wheels, placing two bolts at the top and bottom of each of the rims. This helps hold the rims together. Spin the rod and make sure it is balanced properly.

    • 3

Cut a 5-by-5-inch square piece of plywood. Drill four 1/2-inch holes in each corner of the plywood. Drill a 2-inch hole in the center of the board and turn the barrel over. Center the bottom bearing board to the bottom of the barrel and mark the four mounting holes just created. Drill the holes and mount the block to the barrel using 1/2-inch bolts. Turn the barrel back over so the top is showing.

    • 4

Mount the honey frame onto the block and measure a place to drill wood brackets on each side of the barrel. Drill the fence brackets in place with 1-inch screws. Cut a 3-by-2-inch board 22 inches in length and insert into the fence brackets. Drill a 2-inch hold through the center of the board. Cut a strip of metal flashing measuring 2-by-5 inches. Place screws over the flashing so it is secure to the block and drill a 3/4-inch hole in the center of the flashing.

Place the cage into the extractor. Insert it over the rod bearing and place a bolt down. Make sure the cage does not hit the very bottom of the barrel because this will cause it to not function correctly. Test the spin and make sure the cage rotates freely and is completely held into place. Clean the rim and the inside of the barrel with three coats of coating called camcote .
