These worms must be kept in a cool environment between 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, you need to decide where you will keep them. Other than that, ordering and keeping these worms is relatively easy.

Ordering the Worms

  Decide how many worms you want order. Worm suppliers can easily be found online, and most offer flats containing approximately 500 worms.

  Contact the company via phone or website to order the amount you want to have shipped. The company will need certain details such as your location to determine if the worms need to be shipped with a cool pack to prevent them from overheating.

  Notify your local post office that you are expecting the shipment of worms and that you prefer to pick it up. Worms will stay cooler at the post office than in your mailbox. Ask employees to call you when the shipment arrives.

  Refrigerate the worms immediately. Empty the worms into the shallow plastic container as soon as possible. Dampen the peat moss with the water and add it to the container. Use the spray bottle to lightly mist the worms and the peat moss.

  Poke holes in the top of the container lid to allow air to circulate. Place the lid on the container, and put it in refrigerator.
