Things You'll Need
Instructions
Apply a small amount of vegetable oil to a clean rag and use it to wipe the cavities of your plastic lure molds. This will prevent the plastic bait from sticking to the molds.
Shake the container of liquid plastic to thoroughly mix the contents. The liquid plastic may separate during storage, which could prevent your plastic bait from setting properly.
Pour 1/2 cup of liquid plastic into a microwave safe container. A Pyrex measuring cup works well for this purpose.
Heat the liquid plastic at 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the plastic is clear and has the consistency of syrup.
Stir a few drops of plastic color or glitter into the melted plastic to add color and sparkle to your plastic bait.
Pour the melted plastic into the prepared lure molds to completely fill the cavities. Work quickly to fill the molds before the plastic begins to cool and harden.
Let the plastic cool in the molds for approximately 10 minutes and then peel the bait out of the molds and immerse it in a shallow dish of cool water. The plastic should be cool enough to touch at this point.
Remove the plastic bait from the water when it is completely cool and let the bait dry on a clean towel. Store the dry bait in a Ziploc bag until your next fishing trip.
