Many different types of jobs are available to those with a degree in Environmental Engineering. An undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering also opens up opportunities in many diverse graduate degree programs. Environmental engineers may find themselves employed in water reclamation districts, other civil service positions or private consulting agencies. In May 2008, the median annual salary for an environmental engineer was $74,020.

    University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana

    • In 2010, University of Illinois was ranked one of the top 10 public national universities by U.S. News and World Report. Their environmental engineering program is also very widely regarded. For those hoping to be accepted to U of I a score higher than 27 on the ACT is a must. Additionally, 4 years of high school science and math as well as any extracurricular activities are highly recommended.

    • University of California Berkeley has a well deserved reputation as one of the best U.S. schools. In 2010, the environmental engineering program at Berkeley was ranked #2 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. Applicants to UC Berkeley should have an SAT score over 1300 and a GPA of 3.75 or better.
