How to Make Moth Bait

If you want to find out who is flying around your neighborhood at night, here's a recipe to attract moths to a tree in your backyard. You can also use this to distract moths from entering your home.

Things You'll Need

Beer
Banana
Container with lid
Molasses
Brown sugar

Instructions

  Open a can of beer and let it sit out overnight and go flat. An inexpensive lager does the trick.

  Put out one or two bananas until they get mushy and black.

  Find a container with a lid. Your container should have an opening wide enough to fit the width of a paint brush.

  Pour the beer into the container. Peel the banana and add it to your beer. Mash it up in the bottom of the container and stir.

  Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of molasses and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.

  Stir the mixture well and put the lid on loosely.

  Find a distant corner of your house to let the bait sit. Leave it there for two weeks. A garage or basement is the best choice. The bait will soon start to stink.
