Instructions

    • 1

Look for tiny insects. Mites are very small and usually measure around 1 mm.

    • 2

Use a magnifying glass to get a better look. Mites have eight legs rather than six, but you will not be able to pick up on this trait unless you have a magnifying glass.

    • 3

Determine how old the mites are using the magnifying glass. Young mites are greenish-white, while older mites are reddish-brown.

    • 4

Watch for the weak and fine webs that mites spin.

    • 5

Look out for black or pale spots (the mites) on your rose bush's leaves. A leaf that is infested with mites will develop yellow and brown spots. Then, the leaves will turn brown, curl up and fall off.

    • 6

Pull a leaf off of the rose bush if you think you have an infestation of mites. Then tap the leaf on a white piece of paper. If you see small black dots that move, you probably have mites.
