How to Make an Easy Peanut Butter Bird Feeder

Bird watching is a hobby enjoyed by adults and children alike. The easiest way to watch birds is to attract them to your own yard where you can admire them from the comfort of your home. Birds are attracted by bird houses, quiet areas and, of course, bird feeders. It's not necessary to buy an expensive and complicated bird feeder to have success; birds are perfectly happy with something simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a butter knife to spread a layer of peanut butter on the entire outside of an empty toilet paper roll. The peanut butter only needs to be about 1/8 inch thick but it doesn't matter if you make it thicker.

    • 2

Pour some bird seed in a pan or on a plate. Use bird seed for wild birds native to your area. Purchase bird seed at pet or animal feed stores.

    • 3

Roll the toilet paper roll in bird seed, pressing down slightly as you roll it so that the bird seed sticks to the peanut butter. Cover the entire outside of the roll.

    • 4

Thread a piece of string or thin rope through the toilet paper roll so that one end of the string is on either side of the roll. Gather the string ends and tie them together.

    • 5

Hang your peanut butter bird feeder as desired.
