Create a cozy, warm environment inside your home. Light a fire in the fireplace, spread out the blankets, and gather the family in the living room. Play a favorite board game, watch a movie or catch up on your reading.
Bundle up and head outside to explore if the snow is not falling heavily. Enjoy classic activities such as making snow forts and snow angels. Take your snowman to the next level by filling spray bottles with water and food coloring to "spray paint" your snow man with fun colors and designs. You can also use this technique to make large, mural-like paintings in the snow.
Take photos of your snow day adventures with a digital camera. You can later print these photos from your home computer and make a fun collage along with construction paper, cut-outs from magazines, markers, stickers, glitter and any other materials you have around the house. Have fun getting creative!
Gather clean snow from outside to make snow ice cream. Place snow in a chilled bowl and add a little sugar, a few drops of vanilla extract, and a couple splashes of cold cream or milk. Mix the snow ice cream thoroughly. Taste your creation and add sugar, vanilla or cream or milk to your liking. Make it a sundae by adding your favorite ice cream toppings.
Warm up by making traditional cold-weather treats. Roast marshmallows over the fire and whip up some rich hot cocoa. The whole family may also enjoying getting together to bake warm cookies or a batch of hot soup.
