Things You'll Need
Instructions
Hunt for coyotes in Georgia after they have had their young. Hunt anytime between August and April each year. During the summer months the coyotes have their young and raise them to be independent. Pups are capable of living on their own when they are just a few months old. In August, coyotes stick close to their dens and can be easier to locate than other months of the year. It's the perfect time for beginners.
Set up a deer stand so you can see further and your scent will carry upwards. Animal calls will carry longer distances when you are up in the air. Choose a location that has a lot of underbrush for coyotes to move through.
Mix together equal parts of coyote urine and rabbit blood and mist the scent on your clothes and in the air to confuse the coyotes. Practice good hygiene to prevent the coyotes from smelling you. If they catch your odor they will not come close enough for you to kill them.
Choose a lightweight camouflaged gun that is easy to carry. A lightweight gun can help improve accuracy, which is important when shooting quick, small prey. Use a riflescope for added accuracy. Locate coyotes more easily by mounting a pair of binoculars to a tripod.
Use animal calls to attract the coyotes. Distress sounds work to lure small pups away from parents and can draw more than one coyote to you at a time. Rabbit distress sounds are very effective in attracting coyotes.
Set up an electronic caller nearby. A lone pup distress call will attract adult coyotes to your general location.
Place a fawn decoy and attach an electronic caller. Play the fawn distress call and spray the decoy with deer urine.
