DIY Homemade Bag for Fishing Worms

Carrying bait while you fish can be burdensome. If you use live bait, you become cumbered with a rigid container that you must constantly re-open, re-seal and remember to carry at all times. By making a bait bag to clip onto your apparel, you can streamline the process. To keep the bag from getting soiled by the worms and dirt, line the pouch with a plastic bag when you use it. By using disposable plastic bags, instead of sewn-in plastic lining, you eliminate the need to clean the pouch after every use.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a plastic bag that is small. Snack-sized bags are ideal for this task. Use the bag as your template for measuring the material since you will be lining the pouch with bags this size.

    • 2

Measure the width and height of the plastic bag with the tape measure.

    • 3

Measure a section of your fabric with the width of the plastic bag plus one-half inch and twice the height of the plastic bag plus one inch. By cutting the fabric at twice the height measurement, you can use one piece of fabric doubled-over instead of two pieces of fabric.

    • 4

Cut the measured section off fabric from the rest of the material. Fold the fabric in half so it resembles the shape of the plastic bag. It should be slightly larger than the plastic bag to allow for seam space.

    • 5

Stitch each side of the fabric. Hem the top edges of the fabric with a one-quarter inch hem, if desired.

    • 6

Turn the bag inside out to place the seams on the inside of the pouch.

    • 7

Stitch the first two or three links of the chain on the clip to the bag. Stitch over each link individually and many times. Such abundant and tight stitching will ensure the clips do not break the seam, causing the bag to fall.

    • 8

Insert a plastic bag into the pouch.
