How to Camp on Blackbeard

Blackbeard Island is a National Wildlife Refuge located in South Carolina. The land was orignally purchased by the U.S. Navy to harvest the native oak trees for building ships. The island consists of open freshwater marsh, salt marsh, beach and maritime forest. It is illegal to camp on Blackbeard Island at all times of the year, except during the three day annual bow deer hunts held on the island. The archery hunts are held for three days in October and December each year.
