Description
Most shaky head jigs are made from a stainless steel spring and have a powder coat finish that is chip proof. Each has a lead jig in it that normally weighs between 1/8- to 1/4-ozs. The jig has a rubber worm attached, which is known for attracting bass. Shaky head jigs are primarily used for bass fishing, but work well with other types of fishing too.
Types
Shaky head jigs are available in different styles, sizes and colors. One common type is a football shaky head jig. This is used because it does not get hung up easily around rocks. Round shaky head jigs are ideal for fishing in almost any location.
How it Works
Many tournament fishermen use shaky head jigs, especially when bass fishing. When fishing with a shaky head jig, the lead end of the jig sinks in the water, while the worm, or other lure, floats upward. The angler gently jiggles the bait to move the lead jig around.
Benefits
Anglers use shaky head jigs because they work to catch fish. The jigs are also relatively inexpensive and easy to use. According to Basssdozer, top fishing pros use these jigs on fishing tours. These pros have proven that these jigs work, because they continue to win tournaments with them.
Considerations
Anglers should not use shaky head jigs all of the time, according to some bass pros. In certain conditions, they work well, such as fishing in clear water, deep water and under rough conditions.
