Instructions
Look around the area for a hardwood stick. Hardwoods include most non-evergreen trees, such as maple and oak. The stick or branch should be as thick as your wrist and as long as the distance from your armpit to your wrist.
Snap the stick off of a dead tree or branch if you cannot find a stick of the proper size. Grab the dead branch or small tree. Stick it into the "V" shape created by a forked tree.
Pull the branch against the trees to break it down to size. Stick the end in the crotch of the tree and pull the stick toward you until it breaks. Push the branch through the crotch of the tree so that a length of stick as long as your arm sticks through the other end. Pull the branch and break off the stick using leverage.
