Instructions
Early Preparation
If you live in an affected area, check with local building authorities to make sure your home or living space is built to withstand a cyclone. Make sure all seams of the building such as the roof and walls are sturdy and secure.
Remove loose objects such as lawn furniture or flower pots, and trim all trees and branches that are overhanging the house.
Prepare a survival kit ahead of time with a radio, food, water, flashlights, first aid kit, and waterproof bags, in case a sudden cyclone watch or warning is issued.
Post-Warning Preparation
Fill gas vehicles with gas and park under a solid structure if possible.
Close all shutters and board up doors and windows by nailing plywood over top. Place masking tape in an X across windows and exposed glass surfaces.
Stay indoors, below ground if possible. Listen to the radio and be vigilant of evacuation warnings. If issued, seek higher ground.
