Instructions
Organize a fundraising event by yourself, with a community or school group, or as part of a conservation organization. Possible events include sponsored runs, music nights, yard sales or anything else that would raise money. Pick something enjoyable for the group and use the money raised to purchase an area of rainforest.
Run a poster campaign giving people practical advice on things they can do to help the rainforests. Simple tips include: recycling, because the fewer raw materials consumed, the less habitat destroyed in mining activities; choosing produce not grown on land that used to be rainforest; and choosing sustainable wood for furniture and building work. Conservation charities can provide detailed advice specific to your region, and often have useful materials.
Offer to run workshops, give talks or provide materials on rainforests to local schools and youth groups.
Join a local conservation group and take part in practical conservation work such as replanting trees. This might be in the rainforest or another habitat, depending on your country, but is always valuable work.
