Water
Water is one of the most basic renewable resources. You use it every day to bathe, drink and cook. Approximately 75 percent of the Earth's surface is covered with water, though only 2.5 percent can be consumed by animals. Water is renewed during evaporation when the sun heats it and causes it to rise into the air and form clouds. When these clouds become thick, rain falls to the ground, providing a fresh water source.
Air
Air is necessary for every plant and animal's survival. It is even a necessary component of aqua life. An average adult breathes in 53 liters of oxygen per hour when they are resting. Along with the other components of air, people breath 252 liters of air per hour. According to Ask a Scientist, 300 to 400 plants with 30 leaves each, are needed to produce enough oxygen for a person to live for one hour. When humans exhale, they create carbon dioxide, which the plants take from the air to survive.
Wood
Wood has played an important role in the lives of mankind. It provides fuel and shelter. It is one of the most renewable building material. Wood production is a major industry throughout the world, providing jobs for millions of people. Trees counteract climate change by consuming carbon dioxide and turning it into oxygen. Energy from woody biomass can produce energy. Many jurisdictions require logging companies to replant trees to compensate for the timber they harvest.
Sun
The sun's energy is renewed every morning. It provides people with heat. Plants use the sun for photosynthesis, which is a process by which plants use the sun's energy to make food for themselves. Rain is also produced from the sun after it heats water, which rises into the air to form rainclouds. The sun can also be used to create electricity. Solar panels convert light into energy. The technology was originally created to power satellites, but it is now found on many calculators and some homes.
