Things You'll Need
Instructions
Combine the carrier oil and distilled water in one of the glass mixing bowls. Carrier oil choices vary from heavy and thick to light and fast-drying. Some choices include rose hip oil, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, and grape seed oil. Microwave the bowl on high for three minutes.
Add the emulsifying wax to another glass bowl. Microwave it for four minutes. It will melt into a thin, runny liquid.
Mix the hot water and oil mixture with the hand mixer. Pour the melted wax into the bowl of mixing water and oil. Mix the solution for five minutes.
Microwave a bowl containing 4 tbsp. of stearic acid, which is wax-like in appearance. Heat it up for two minutes. It melts much quicker than other wax types. This item can be obtained from craft and hobby supply shops, along with other lotion-making ingredients.
Pour the melted stearic acid into the bowl of mixing lotion solution. Continue mixing for an additional two minutes. As the stearic acid mixes into the runny lotion base, it will thicken into a fluffy cream.
Pour the warm lotion into a bottle or container of your choice.
