How to Find Past Weather Temperatures in Months

Feeling drenched in sweat or frozen to the bone after a brief moment outside can make an average day seem like the hottest or coldest day in recent years. Often, local meteorologists will reference the hottest or coldest day your town has on record. This daily or monthly data is conveniently available online for research, comparison, or simply for your reference.

Instructions

      Go to a website with databases of past weather, such as the NOAA's National Weather Service site.

      Click "Past Weather" under the "Climate" title located in the menu on the left-hand side of the home page.

      Select your state and city from the U.S. map. Although all cities are not available, most major cities are represented on the map.

      Under "Product" select "Monthly Weather Summary."

      Select the city nearest you under "Location."

    • 6

      Select "Archived Data" under "Timeframe." Select the month you are interested in. Click "Go" under "View."

      Go to Weather Underground's website.

      Type your ZIP code into the search bar titled "Enter a location."

      Scroll down the page until you see the section titled "Nearby."

      Locate the subsection titled "History &Almanac."

      Select the month, date, and year you are interested in. Then press "View."
