Things You'll Need
Instructions
Collect the natural water in the container. This container should be something like a plastic water bottle as you need a clear opening in order to filter out objects in the water. Try to prevent larger objects from getting into the container while collecting the water.
Place the clean cloth over the opening of the container. Fold the cloth over itself so you have at least two layers of cloth to filter the water. Slowly tilt the container and let the water pour through the cloth and into the pot. The cloth catches any sizable objects, including insect larva and other small animals an contaminants.
When the water is inside of the pot, examine it to see if there are any larva or other objects still inside. If so, carefully pour the water back into the container from the pot and repeat the process, this time folding the cloth over itself again to get extra layers of filtration.
Place the pot onto a heat source such as a fire or stove top once the water appears to be clear of items that you can see. Leave the pot on the source until the water begins to boil. Do not touch or stir the water until it comes to a complete boil.
Allow the water to boil for at least 15 minutes. The heat from the boiling will kill most of the bacteria that is still in the water. After 15 minutes, remove the pot from the heat source and allow the water to cool before drinking.
