Shark teeth can be an impressive souvenir of a deep sea fishing trip or a lucky find on the beach. Keep in mind while fishing that many species of shark are endangered and must be thrown back if caught. In may also be illegal to harvest shark teeth for the purpose of resale. Cleaning and preserving shark teeth is a fairly simple process, similar to what should be done to preserve fragile shells.

Soak the teeth in mild dish detergent.

Scrub lightly with fingers or a nonabrasive washcloth.

Dry the teeth with a paper towel or napkin. Place them in the sun to dry completely.

Display the clean, dry teeth in a frame, in a bowl, or in a backdrop of beach sand, which will provide a nice contrast with the dark color of the tooth.
