Primary Soil Treatment

Some commercial businesses produce chemical or biological waste products. Most businesses are mindful to dispose of their waste in a careful fashion, but sometimes these products get into the soil. When that happens, the soil must be treated to make it safe for growing crops and for the people or animals who live in the area.
  1. Types of Contamination

    • There are many different types of contamination that can affect soil and be cause for treatment. Among the most common is contamination due to pesticides. Chemical solvents, persistent organic compounds, and oil products and byproducts can also lead to the need for soil treatment.

    Treatment Processes

    • The most typical way to deal with contaminated soil is to remove the soil to a large hole and bury it. Primary soil treatment involves washing and recycling the soil to remove contaminants and make it safe and useful again.

    Mobile Treatment

    • Primary soil treatment is most effectively performed at the site of the contamination. Otherwise the soil needs to be trucked to a treatment facility and then brought back. Because a soil treatment operation can take years to complete, often a temporary treatment unit is set up on-site to manage the project.
