How to Troubleshoot a Sharper Image Weather Station City Setting

Sharper Image's 7-Day Weather Station is made by Ambient Devices. The device operates using a wireless network with over 8,000 broadcast towers that reach about 90 percent of the population. Weather data from 150 cities in the U.S. is covered out-of-the-box. Problems with the Sharper Image Weather Station city setting can be related to radio coverage and the list of cities. These problems can be corrected by following some troubleshooting steps.

  Press the "Location" button multiple times if your city doesn't show on the display. Locations are alphabetical in the list.

  Set the city setting by pressing the "Location" button, then wait for up to four hours if weather data doesn't show on the screen. It can take that long for the signal to be heard and for data to appear.

  If the device isn't displaying city data after you have made the setting, move the device to a location where it might better receive radio signals. Look at the signal strength indicator on the front of the device. If the display only shows one bar, move the device closer to a window, or even upstairs. Try different spots around the house until the signal strength indicator shows more bars.

  Monitor the device's city data with two or more signal bars. The data should be kept more up to data. Check out the manufacturer's coverage map (see below) to make sure that your location is covered by the radio network if you still are unable to get a signal.
