Cylindrical Batteries
Energizer alkaline batteries for consumer use are produced in the common cylindrical 1.5 volt sizes D, C, AA and AAA, as well as the less common N and AAAA sizes, says Energizer.com. The alkaline formula was adopted in 1957 because it provided power longer, offered superior cold-weather performance, greater resistance to leakage and much longer shelf life, according to Energizer.com.
Rectangular Types
Rectangular Energizer alkaline consumer batteries also are available, says Energizer.com. They come in the common 9 volt type and the 6 volt multi-cell lantern battery as well as the less-common 6 volt Size J type.
Other Chemistries
Energizer also produces batteries of 1.5 volts, 3 volts, 4.5 volts and 6 volts in a variety of sizes and formats for high-drain industrial, commercial and photo applications. These batteries employ other chemistries including reactions between lithium and iron disulfide and lithium and manganese dioxide. Energizer makes a wide range of tiny button batteries putting out 1.55 volts with chemistries based on manganese dioxide or silver oxide and zinc or lithium.
