How to Make a Spore Skeleton

Winner of one of Time magazine's 50 Best Inventions of 2008, the video game "Spore" allows a player to develop organisms, from a single cell to an advanced civilization capable of interstellar travel. A central dynamic of the game is the creator tool. This intuitive interface allows players to create everything from creatures to buildings and vehicles. You can even use the creator tool to make a skeleton creature with bones that appear to float. A glitch in the creator allows you to reduce the mass of the creature's body indefinitely.

Instructions

    • 1

Start with a creature from the land stage. Click and hold the arrow extending from the end of the creature's spine and move the mouse toward the head in order to reduce its body's length. Shrink the spine to two segments.

    • 2

Place the cursor over each remaining segment and roll the mouse wheel down to shrink the body around the segment. After you have reduced each segment enough, the body around it will become a black silhouette. Anything that the game displays in black on this editing screen will be invisible during normal play.

    • 3

Attach details like charms and weapons as you normally would, but bear in mind that they will appear to be floating. You can use bone-like attachments, such as the scythe weapon to mimic ribs and shins, and pieces like "Bone Plate" as knee caps and other joints.

    • 4

Finish editing and exit to the paint mode. The black silhouette will be gone and you will be able to select the white fill paint to mimic bleached bones.
