Things You'll Need
Instructions
Open your compass, making sure to lift both the protective casing and the sighting lens with the wire thumb loop behind it.
Examine your compass and locate the luminous line on or under the glass cover. Find the short luminous line on the floating arrow, too. Both lines should glow in the dark; they will be bright yellow or green in regular light.
Tilt the compass lens so it sits about 1 ¼ inches above the glass compass cover. Slip your right thumb through the thumb loop and hold the compass in your palm. Look through the lens with the compass nestled against your right cheek. You should be able to see the numbers on the floating compass dial.
Tilt the compass cover toward the lens. The black wire in the small window of your cover should line up perfectly with the notch in the top of your plastic lens casing. Grip the bezel ring with your right hand, turning it gently until the short luminous line is perfectly in line with the black line in the compass's cover.
Bring the compass down to your solar plexus, so you can see the entire top of it clearly. Hold it in both palms with your wrists pressed against your waist. Slowly turn your entire body until the short luminous line on your compass arrow lines up with the luminous line controlled by your bezel ring. The compass is now luminous.
