How to Calculate the Cubic Feet Capacity of the Deli Case

If you are not sure how much deli items can fit into your deli case, finding the cubic feet capacity of the case can give you a general idea of how much you can stock up. Cubic feet capacity, also known as volume, is calculated through a simple three-dimensional rectangular prism formula of multiplying the length, width and height together.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length, width and height of your deli case with a ruler or tape measurer. In order to obtain the capacity in cubic feet, your measurements must be in feet.

    • 2

Identify the shape of the counter to determine the volume formula. If your deli counter is a perfect square, the equation would be side^3 (V = S x S x S). If your deli counter is a rectangular prism, your equation would be V = length x width x height (V = L x W x H).

    • 3

Plug the measurements found in Step 1 to calculate the cubic feet capacity of your deli case. For example, if your rectangular prism deli case had a length of 2 feet, a width of 6 feet and a height of 4 feet, the capacity of the deli case would have been 48 cubic feet (V = 2 ft. x 6 ft. x 5 ft. = 48 cubic ft)
