Understanding Personal Numerology: How to Calculate Your Birth Number

Numerology is the set of beliefs that any person or object has a divine connection to a number. Personal numerology is used to determine what a factor, such as a person's birthday or name, says about the person's personality and life. The birth number represents your talents or strengths. Numbers are reduced until they are a single digit, except 11 and 22, which are considered master numbers so they are not reduced when calculating the birth number.

  Write your birthday in numbers, writing out all numbers in the year. For example, Nov. 29, 1968, is 11/29/1968.

  Add the numbers in your birth month until you have a single digit or 11.

  Add the numbers in your birth date until you have a single digit, 11 or 22. Therefore, for the 29th, add 2 and 9 to get 11. If you were born on the 28th, add 2 and 8 to get 10; then add 1 and 0 to get 1.

  Add the numbers in your birth year and continue adding the digits together until you have a single digit, 11 or 22. Thus, for 1968, add 1, 9, 6 and 8 to get 24; then add 2 and 4 to get 6.
- 5
  Add the answers from Steps 2 through 4 and continue adding the digits together until you have a single digit. This is your birth number. For Nov. 29, 1968, add 11, 11 and 6 to get 28; add 2 and 8 to get 10. The birth number is 1.
