Real Numbers
The scope of real numbers spans whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Real numbers can even include calculated numbers like square roots and the value of pi.
Infinite Set
Though each real number is considered to be finite in value, the set of all real numbers is considered to be infinite. That means that we don't know how many real numbers exist.
Negatives and Zero
Real numbers consist of both positive and negative values as well as the number zero. So for every positive number that is derived, there is a corresponding negative number.
Operations
Real number operations include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and exponentiation.
Visualization of Real Numbers
A real number is sometimes explained as any point on a line or any point on a plane. Of course, one has to give a numerical value to the the number from the visual perspective, but this can be done with fractions or whole intervals.
