  Choose a numerology reference, such as Astrology-Numerology.com, that includes the personality traits and energy indicated by "core" numerology numbers 1 through 9 (see Resources below). Read to get an overview of the system before you begin.

  Discover your primary numerology number. Your primary number is simply the numeric birthday. If you were born on May 5, your primary number is 5. If the number has two digits, such as May 24, you will need to practice digit summing (see Step 4 below).

  Determine your secondary, or life path numerology number. Begin by listing the numeric month, day and year of your birth. If you were born on May 24, 1967, use the numbers: 5 (for May, the fifth month), 24 and 1967. Continue the equation by digit summing (see Step 4 below).

  Reduce all numbers in numerology to their core roots to discover collective and individual traits. To reduce your secondary number, 5-24-1967, separate the multiple digits and add them together with any single digits: 5+2+4+1+9+6+7=52. Further reduce double-digit 52 to 5+2=7. 7 is your secondary number.

  Discover the meanings of your primary and secondary numbers using your chosen reference, and then move on to other personal numbers, such as your name number. You might want to make a chart to easily display what those numbers say about you. Once you learn their basic meanings, you will be able to apply your personal numerology numbers to your everyday life.
